Frequently asked questions
Is there really a free plan?
Yes! The Free plan includes everything you need to get started - a kiosk, standing orders, and CSV export. No credit card required. It's limited to 50 declarations per month, which is enough for smaller charities. You can upgrade to a paid plan at any time when you're ready.
Can I change plan later?
Absolutely. Upgrade or downgrade at any time from the Billing page in your Donation Hub. Changes take effect immediately - we pro-rate the difference.
Do you offer discounts for annual billing?
Yes - annual billing gives you 2 months free compared to paying monthly. That's a saving of £98 on Team and £198 on Business.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards via Stripe. For Enterprise plans, we can arrange invoicing and bank transfer.
Is there a setup fee?
No. There are no setup fees, no hidden costs, and no contracts. You can cancel at any time.
What happens if I exceed my declaration limit?
We won't cut you off mid-service. You'll receive a notification at 80% of your monthly limit, and again at 100%. Declarations will continue to be captured and Gift Aid will still be calculated. We'll follow up to discuss upgrading if your usage consistently exceeds your plan. Full details are in our Fair Use Policy at trustalma.com/legal/fair-use.
What are the fees on card donations?
Stripe charges their standard processing fees on every card transaction (1.5% + 20p for UK cards). Alma also applies a small application fee on card donations to help sustain the platform: 0.5% on the Free plan, 0.25% on the Team and Business plans, and no fee on Enterprise. Donors can optionally choose to cover processing fees at checkout.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. There are no contracts or cancellation fees. You can cancel your subscription from the Billing page in your Donation Hub at any time. Your plan will remain active until the end of the current billing period, then downgrade to the Free plan. Your data is never deleted when you downgrade - you just lose access to higher-tier features.
Do you offer refunds?
If you cancel within 14 days of your first paid subscription, we'll issue a full refund - no questions asked. After that, we don't offer refunds for unused portions of a billing period, but you can downgrade at any time and your plan will run until the end of the period you've already paid for.
